About

About Us

The inception of Nong Kén is deeply rooted in the rich cultural tapestry of Bac Ninh, a province renowned as the cradle of Quan Ho folk songs — a UNESCO-recognised Intangible Cultural Heritage — and home to a vast system of historic temples and pagodas. The project stems from an urgent need to safeguard the thousand-year-old silk-weaving tradition of Vong Nguyet village, which has faced severe challenges from post-war economic shifts and market globalisation.

Preliminary research into the Bac Ninh tourism market revealed a distinct gap: current souvenir offerings are predominantly limited to culinary specialties, leaving a void for premium, high-application products that embody the province's cultural essence for affluent travellers and citizens seeking meaningful gifts.

Operating within the high-end cultural tourism and souvenir industry, Nong Kén serves as a bridge between the historical craftsmanship of local artisans and the sophisticated demands of contemporary consumers. The brand name “Nong Kén” symbolises the nurturing of silk cocoons — a metaphor for preserving and incubating the delicate values of national identity in a modern era.

Unlike mass-produced souvenirs, Nong Kén distinguishes itself through Digital Transparency, utilising QR code technology to provide full traceability for every product. Each purchase is not just a transaction — it is a verified contribution to cultural preservation and a deliberate act of heritage stewardship.

Founder's Message

“Nong Kén was born from a simple promise: every gift we create must protect the dignity of our artisans and carry the living spirit of Bac Ninh. We are not only crafting products, we are preserving memory, identity, and pride for the next generation.”
